Last Ever Skins: Skins Rise Part 2 Review

Tonight was the last ever episode of the hit series Skins and it finished on a high. We follow Cook from last week, he is on the run with his girlfriend Emma and Murderous drug dealer Louis girlfriend Charlie, who has called Cook to escape Louis clutches. They go to Emma's country house, unbeknown to them Emma's parents are staying there. Emma is annoyed with Cook and sick of Charlie. The next day Louis tracks the gang down just as Emma's parents are leaving. Louis and Charlie talk and she tells him to leave. He stays calm and does but later as the gang go on the run again Cook spots Emma's parents car abandoned on the side of the road. He sees her parents are gone along with Emma's father's gun.
They hideout but during the night Emma is taken and it leads to a angry Cook on the hunt for Louis and to save Emma, however is it too late for Emma as Cook finds her dead. Louis pulls the gun on Cook saying he will kill him but Cook reminds him that he should not have got on His bad side. He reminds him "I'm Cook". The line he yelled at Dr Foster before he killed him at the end of series four.
The two men battle it out it is Louis who succoms to Coos rage and lays there unconscious.
The last scene is Cook telling Charlie to just disappear and they will never see each other again. The episode ends with Cook walking off into the snow after saying goodbye to Emma.
I have to say this was a great final episode for a great series. It felt as if it was a film and not a TV show. Jack O'Connell was brilliant as Cook and the episode really has you at the edge of your seat. Although it was hard to see Emma dead at the end that is what makes Skins such a successful show. It was always gritty and honest and never glamorized any of it's controversial elements. It also was never afraid to kill off any of it's beloved characters ie Chris and Freddie in generation 1 and 2.
Jack O'Connell is a fantastic actor and really showed his talents. I also thought Liam Boyle who played Liam was fantastic, his presence on screen made me feel uneasy and I think that is a true testament of how well he played his character. The show has your attention from the get go and never dragged in places unlike Skins Pure. You also really felt for Emma who didn't ask for any of this and it was her and her family who suffered the consequences of Cooks actions.
I honestly think Skins is one of the best shows to come out of the UK in the last 10 years. I think it slipped up a bit with the third generation but these three stories really brought it back to it's best especially Cook's story. This was a great ending to a series that has such a big place in many young peoples hearts and it is a bit sad it's over for good, but what a way to go.
