Cannes film festival Opening Ceremony: All the Glamour

The annual Cannes film festival kicked off this week with some of the biggest names in showbiz attending. The stars of "The Great Gatsby" graced the red carpet to screen their film which opens in Cinemas Today.

The festival starts on May 15th and finished on the 26th and is one of the most glamours events in the world in one of the worlds most amazing city's.

Carey Mulligan looks beautiful in this simple pale pink Dior gown. The red lip goes great with the pink and the long simple blond hair looks perfect.

Cara Delevingne looks divine in this Burberry dress. The jewels are amazing and the red lip tops off the utterly glamours look. She looks like a Hollywood star and how a Hollywood star should look, pure perfection. 

The singer donned an interesting in this dress but I don't like how the bottom of the dress is a different material to to the top. Also the top is fitted and the bottom is loose, I think it should be one or the other but props to her for going with a 1920's theme for the screening of "The Great Gatsby".

The superstars sister looks great in this nude dress. The train is amazing and the feathers add drama to the dress. The gold belt brings it together really well and the simple sandals are a perfect choice.

The actress looks amazing in this head turning Gucci gown. The colour is amazing against her skin tone and the embellished belt brings the dress together and the shoes are amazing. She looks perfect especially for such an event.

The Model did not have a fashion hot in her red dress. The cut outs look cheap and the red embellishments are borderline tacky. the dress looks like you can buy it in any shop for a debs and the great thing about looking at these events is that the dresses are part of the fantasy, while this dress looks like a bit of a nightmare.

Usually white and tight should not work on most women, but most women are not Cindy Crawford. the  model looks great in the white dress and the gold neckline goes really well with the white, she looks stunning. 

Kim's Pregnancy Style: The Wonderful and the WTF?!

When Kim Kardahsian announced she was pregnant she instantly became the second most famous pregnant women on the planet (Kate Middelton bring the first). Since her baby bump has grown she has worn some very questionable outfits while some have been quite cute. Her I take a look at some her her hits and misses during her pregnancy!

This fitted green dress showed off her bump perfectly and fit her really well, one of her better choices.


This red maxi is a great color and shows off her bump very nicely


This white dress is simple and very pretty. Even though Kim looks a bit uncomfortable in the shot, she shouldn't because she looks great.


This is perfect, It shows off the bump and the material on the arms adds a simple drama to the dress.

Misses



Leather can be very unforgiving. This dress makes her look very heavy and the color only shows off the tightness even more, not a flattering choice.


This is unfortunate. White is not forgiving and there is just to much material and adds inches to her frame!



What the hell is this? Its just odd and should be banished!


These pants are horrific. Patterned peplum on your growing tummy, who let her wear this?!

Angelina's Brave Choice

This morning it was announced that Hollywood Megastar Angelina Jolie had a double mastectomy as she was told she had 87% chance of getting breast cancer and 56% of getting ovarian cancer. Jolie lost her mother in 2007 to Ovarian Cancer and as a mother of six I'm sure sure she has done everything she could to make sure she sees her children grown up.
Her fiancee Brad Pitt told the Evening Standard "Having witnessed this decision firsthand, I find Angie’s choice, as well as so many others like her, absolutely heroic. 'I thank our medical team for their care and focus. 'All I want for is for her to have a long and healthy life, with myself and our children. This is a happy day for our family.'
I personally think that her choice was a brave and smart one. However after listening to a talk show where this was the topic I was shocked to hear people criticize her with some saying "she is only doing it for attention". All I can say to a person with that thought is, You are a ignorant fool and if you cannot see the choice this women made as a tough but brave one then I really feel  for you as you cannot see the obvious reason for it.

I'm sure it wasn't was not easy for Ms Jolie to undergo such a procedure and it must have taken a bit of thought but if she can live a long and happy life with brad and her children, it was worth the procedure.

Summer Wedding Looks

The Summer is upon us and this means loads of fun cute bright looks. Summer is also a popular time of the year to hold a wedding. Here I have chosen some very cute and sleek outfits to suit the occasion for all body shapes. All dresses can be found on www.asos.com.

 
Although the tradition is only the bride should wear white on the day this dress is to cute not to consider  The skater dress would suit someone with an apple shape. The black lace means that no necklace is needed and plain stud earrings would suit it better. The black lace adds an interesting detail and it looks expensive even though its only €59.65.  




Lace is big for summer and high neck is also a big trend. This dress would suit someone with a boyish figure. The coral works on most skin tones and a pair of nude heels would top it off nicely. Simple but classy its versatile and could be worn on a normal night out. At €66.28 its a great buy. (also available in black) 



This shift dress is stunning yet sophisticated. The color is great for summer and would suit anyone with a pear shape. The detail at the back is interesting and different and the cut out is very on trend.  It would give the wearer great shape and the color would suit many skin tones and hair colors.  A pair of nude shoes and simple accessories would make this outfit a head turner. At €59.65 its a great buy. 


This turquoise body con dress looks is perfect for a summer wedding. The color is great for the season and the material stretches so it can be generous. A gold cuff and black or nude shoes would be perfect. A nice glow would top off the look and it could be worn again on a normal night out. At  €30.47 its a steal. 


For those who want to go for a longer dress, Maxi dresses are perfect to wear and during summer they are almost a given. This empire line cut suits most body types and the red is stunning and the shade of red is a personal favorite of mine. The dress also comes in cream and navy and could be worn with a statement gold necklace. At €55.67 its a great price for such a stunning dress.




This dress is perfect for someone who may want to cover their tummy or hips. The color is stunning and material is very summery and light. The dress could be worn with gold accessories and a nice glow would really bring the outfit together. At  €29.16 its perfect and could be worn on a nice summers day as well. Mike Jeffries, Retails Biggest Ass.

After reading that Abercrombie CEO Mike Jeffries only wants thin and hot people to wear his clothes, I just sat there in shock. In this day and age and where designers are fighting to say "We accept all shapes" I am shocked that a man is so behind. Jeffries seems to need a wake up call. In this economy retailers  need to sell to everyone to make sure profits are up. Abercrombie is expensive enough with only a certain amount of people able to buy it regularly, excluding a certain portion of the market because they are not a size six is silly and to be honest, bad for business.
In Ireland a new flag ship store opened just before Christmas and the main buyers, Pre- teen and teenage girls and boys up to the age of 20. The clothing has a lifespan among consumers, its cute stuff until you come to age where you see its stupid to spend 60 euro on sweatpants. Thankfully I have reached that age. When I was younger I had loads of Abercrombie and would wear it all the time. Now I wear my sweatpants around the house or to the gym.
Young girls are not at that stage yet and to be honest I hope Jefferies come to his senses soon before he  ruins the company's reputation.

Met Gala, Fashion Nightmare

The thought of the Met Gala attendees looking like a fashion disaster seems unthinkable, after all this is the fashion event of the season, there is so much star power at the event every year with access to the most fabulous pieces, but this year there was more disaster then delight. The Punk Theme was asking for some bum notes but there are fails and some are just pure eye sores. There were some hits but the they were limited to be frank, hopefully next year we will go back to good old pure amazing fabulous gowns.

 Jennifer Lawrence 

This was a hit but with this women its always a hit. The Oscar winning actress wore a midi Prom Dress by Dior and added Hollywood Glam with the netted veil, The Red lip signify's glamour. One of the strongest looks of the night, the women can do no wrong.

Miley Cyrus

This ensemble makes me sad. Usually Marc Jacobs can do no wrong but this just screams horror. She does receive props for keeping with the Punk Theme but I do not see anything I like about this dress and the hair does not know what direction its going, I hate this look but only someone her age wear this dress.


Taylor Swift 
I am a big fan of this look, The J. Mendel dress is in interesting and fits her like a glove, the cut outs show off her great body and the neckline is amazing. She looks effortless and striking and shows us shes all grown up, especially fashion wise.

Blake Lively

The actress looks flawless in Gucci. The Simple top and the Dramatic bottom half  blend really well together.  The simple hair and make up lets the dress do all the talking. Blake always looks great and this is another addition to her fashion amazing record.

Nicole Richie

One of the biggest talking points of the night was Nicole's new hair. The shocking white hair, the plum lip, the cream Topshop dress, it should all scream disaster but for some reason it works. The Topshop dress is beautiful, and the the theme was punk. It was risky but it paid off, in my opinion, one of the strongest looks of the night.

Cara Delevingne 

The women of the moment looked amazing in her plunging Burberry gown. This is how to rock the punk theme. The black with the gold studs and the edgy hair style shows how Cara knows how to dress for any occasion. The smudgy black eye make up go well with her trademark brows although I would not have a chosen a white clutch. Its the only dent in an almost perfect look. 

Emma Watson

The actress turned heads in this attention grabbing Prabal Gurung gown. The cut outs in the midriff area are very on trend and the slit up the front adds drama to the dress. Its something completely different then what we have seen on the actress. The dress could tie into her effort to be seen in a sexy image to coincide with her new film the bling ring. Whatever image she is trying to portray you cant deny Emma looks amazing.

Lena Dunham

This is not punk, this is just boring. The Erdem dress looks dull on the "Girls" actress. At any other event this would be considered and ok dress but The Met Gala is the noght where people go all out, regardless if  the end result is good or bad the guests still try to be adventurous with their choices but this is just dull. The hair is dull, this is just a fashion fail.

Kim Kardashian

I cant comment on the  Met Gala fashion without mentioning the biggest talking point of the night, Kim and her quite frankly, shocking ensemble. I think the dress on its own could be forgiven, but the glove and the matching shoes, come on?!. I know that she is having a hard time dressing for her new baby body but this is just over the top. Even a simple black dress with edgy make up would have been better. I love the hair and make up but not even that can save this outfit, try harder next year Kim.

Beyonce
This is just unfortunate. The woman is Beyonce, she is Queen B. This Givenchy dress looks cheap and tacky. The paisley is an eye soar and the near matching boots is just awful. She could have chosen anything but this? I am seriously confused. 

Emmy Rossum

The actress looks great in this dream like Donna Karen dress. The smoky eyes add the punk touch but the dress brings the drama. I love the cut and the detail on the dress. She looks heavenly with the 1920's look and I wish more people took a leaf out of her book.
