Jonas Brothers: End of the Road

Today it was announced that The Jonas Brothers have officially separated. Reports have been circulating for the past month that the band were on the rocks after they cancelled their Tour and they deleted their twitter account. However today they officially announced their separation after eight years. The boys had a hugely successful career with two number one albums, a grammy nomination and a sell out arena world tour.
These guys were my Justin Bieber and One Direction. I found them when I was 15 scrolling through music on Youtube and I clicked into SOS and I loved the song. After that I was a fan until the end. I even saw them on their world tour when they came to Dublin and I had all the albums.
I loved them because they made upbeat fun pop music and I had a HUGE crush on Nick Jonas! I have to admit I was a little upset when I heard the news. I was looking forward to the release of their new album and I have to admit it made me nostalgic, harking back to 16 year old me, dancing around my room to Burning Up and Lovebug and watching Camp rock, only because they were in it. I loved their stuff and still listen to their old albums. I hope they release their upcoming album as a treat to fans who are sad to see the band part and for anyone who liked the band underneath are a few of my favorite songs of theirs, Thank You Boys, You added to my teenage years and I hope to continue to see them in music.

Kardashian Kollection for Lipsy: Review

Earlier this year it was announced that the Kardashian sisters we're to end their partnership with Dorothy Perkins and stock their Kardashian Kollection range in Lipsy. I always buy from the range as I think they are affordable and make me look good. Today the new range was unveiled in full and it will go on sale on Thursday. Here's what I think of some of the pieces.

Red alert: Cut out neckline bodycon dress, £50
This red body con dress is really nice and I love the cut outs at the top, I think it will be a big hit for Christmas and you would be able to wear this all year round. It is priced at €60

Black out: Cut out dress, £55
This midi cut out dress kind of confuses me. I know I would never wear something like this on a night out, purely because it isn't my style. I think it's alright but nothing special. It's also priced steeply enough at €65.

One-piece: Lace halter jumpsuit, £75
I think this jumpsuit is really tacky. I think the material looks really cheap. It is also priced at €90. I would have to be paid €90 to wear this. It looked great on Kourtney but I think this is a dud piece.

Animal behaviour: Pussy bow blouse, £40
No Kardashian Kollection without a spot of leopard print. This can be worn day or night but it is not worth €50.

Furry nice: Cropped full feather jacket, £150.00
I LOVE this feather jacket. It's got a Gatsby feel to it and with long party nights coming up in the cold weather this jacket will keep you warm and looking great, but you need to rock it with confidence. It's priced at €180 but if you have the money, I would buy it.

All white: White PU shift dress, £60
This skater style shift dress would be a great simple daytime look. You could even wear it to the office. I think it looks cute and fresh and it is not to expensive at €70

Graphic: Lipsy geo leopard midi dress, £55
I like this dress, it is a little unusual, only girls with confidence can wear this dress, it is not for the faint hearted, if you like it and can rock it, it's priced at €65

Leather look: Embroidered PU shift dress, £65
Leather is not going anywhere. This is my favorite piece as I love the leather look. I also like how it is a shift dress. It's priced at €77 but I know I will definitely be buying it.

Voluptuous: Cut out dress, £55
Similar to the black one shown earlier, I think the same but like the color more. I wouldn't wear it but I'm sure there are ladies who would, for them it's €65.

Leggy: Wet look PU leggings, £38
I really like these leggings, I like how the wet look is very subtle, The Kardashians love a good pair of leggings and these will set you back €45

Simple: Chain detail cami, £30
This simple cami will look great with the leggings shown above, or a good pair of skinnies. I also like the color (it's also available in black) and for €35 it's not too pricy.

Chic: Cream tailored blazer, £75
A good blazer is key to any ladies wardrobe. I like the cut and paneling on this and how it is not to long. It's a little steep at €90 but it will last you for many seasons.

On trend: Embroidered PUskirt, £48
The Kardashians love a leather skirt and this looks really cute. I will probably be buying this as I have been looking for a decent leather look skirt for a while now, also it is not to expensive at €55

Demure: High neck lace midi dress, £65
I'm sorry but what is this. I think this is cheap. I hate cheap looking lace and the red makes it look worse. For anyone still interested it's €80

Sheer delight: Lace long sleeve shift dress, £55
I really like this dress. I think the lace on the arms and shoulders is nice and not cheap looking at all. I think I may have to but this one too as it looks like a dress you can wear day and night. Priced at €65

Lovely lace: Lace top halter pencil dress, £75
Again, I don't know what this is, I think it awful and looks cheap and badly made. For anyone who wants to look like a Downton character the dress is €90

Embellishment: Long sleeve tribal caviar dress, £65
I love this dress, perfect for any season, but especially Christmas, it is pure glam and fabulous without being tacky, for anyone interested (ehem me!) it is €80

Well I have to be frank, I am a little disappointed in this collection, it's not as strong as their previous efforts. However there are some great pieces in there that make up for the tacky numbers. I love the sisters and their style and I will be buying some of these pieces but not as much as I hoped to want.

Fashionista sisters: Khloe, left, and Kourtney, centre, joined Kim in the campaign for their Kardashian Kollection, which will bow in U.K. store Lipsy on Thursday

The Saturdays Living For The Weekend: Review

I have to admit, not since the Spice Girls have I loved a girl band's music so much. Ever since these girls burst onto the music scene in 2008 they have graced the charts with some fantastic pop songs. I have all the girls albums and I love to hear them doing well. I always feel with the Saturdays that they are never given as much credit as they deserve. To be fair to them they tour, promote and sell records in big numbers and three of them are mothers of babies. This is their fourth album and it is filled with some great pop tracks.

What About Us: The band's first number one single was a massive smash and rightly so. The beat is great and the lyrics are very easy to sing along. I actually preferred the version without Sean Paul, I think the girls gave us a great song on their own. I think this is a perfect opener for the album.

Disco Love: I love love LOVE this song. I was not a fan of it when I first heard it, but after the second listen I had it on repeat. I also love the video. This song is brilliant and it's so upbeat you cannot help smile while listening to it. Definitely a perfect choice for a single.

Gentleman: I was not mad about this song. I thought their other singles were better. I just thought it was quite lackluster compared to the other songs, however I like how the the lyrics were quite fun but not their best work.

Leave A Light On: The first ballad on the album, it is a bit of a filler. The best ballad the band have done is My Heart Takes Over and this is not up to that standard.

Not Giving Up: The intro to this song sounds a bit like their hit "All Fired Up". It's a great dance track with a fun fast beat. Definitely one of the best songs on the album.

Lease My Love: This song is a bit of a filler. It has a fast enought beat but it is not up to par with the likes of Disco Love and 30 Days

30 Days: The lead single off the album was a big hit for the girls, however I found it a bit odd that they released it two years before the album, you can tell it's been a while as Una is pregnant in the video. The song is one of my top Saturdays songs, I love the beat and the lyrics are really sweet, still a great track.

Anywhere With You: This song has a bit of a weird tempo. I love the harmonies in the song but it's a little forgettable. It will get you moving a little bit but it is no floorfiller.

Problem With Love: The opening of this track is a bit of a stomper, you cannot beat Vanessa vocals in the opening line, but it loses a bit of it's power as the song goes on but it's still a good song that you will listen to more than some of the other songs.

You Don't Have The Right: This ballad is very dull, I don't believe the girls are upset as they are all in loved up relationships. I think this is the track most people will skip.

Don't Let Me Dance Alone: The standard girl band song. In the club with the girls and you want the boy to make the move, however it is a stomper, it is one of the stronger tracks on the album and it is one of  my favorite songs on the album, it's just a pity it's so far down on the album.

Somebody's Else's Life: Fans of the girls will recognise the song as the intro music to the girls reality show "Chasing the Saturdays". The chorus is really sunny and fun but the verses are a bit dull and all over the place, not their best work

Wildfire: This track is upbeat, fun and has a great singalong vibe. It is a strong closing to the album and it is classic Saturdays. I really like this song and it is definitely better than some of the other tracks on the album

Overall: The singles were picked for a reason, they are the best songs on the album, apart from Wildfire and Not Giving Up the rest of the album is a bit average. It's not bad but it's not great, which is a pity because the girls can give us some great pop songs, I feel like they took all the songs that were offered to them and didn't really listen to them. I will probably buy the album as I am a big fan of theirs but I would be really worried if after 5 years in the business, this is the best they can come up with.

Best Song: Disco Love

Epic Shows You May Have Missed

Anyone who knows me knows I have an extensive tv diet. I love tv shows and boxsets, nothing better than binge watching a show back to back when you're having a chill day. I love the obvious favorites, Big Bang, Modern Family, How I Met Your Mother, Love/Hate and my favorite show Criminal Minds. I got into new shows in the past year that I am fully addicted to at this stage and I think they are do not get enough buzz, here are a few that caught my attention and should capture yours.

Mistresses- Based on a UK version this tells the story of the loves and affairs of four successful women. The most notable name in the show is former Charmed star and my favorite actress Alyssa Milano. The show took about two episodes to really start moving but when it did it was so addictive! The characters are so likable even when they do bad things. It was shown in the UK & Ireland on TLC and it was permanent viewing on a thursday night. It's been picked up for another season thankfully because the series final is a pure cliff hanger. I can't wait for it to come back and I would seriously recommend the show for people who love plot twist dramas but ones that are easy to follow.

The Blacklist- This is my new favorite show. It only debuted 3 weeks ago and I'm already hooked. It is about wanted criminal Ray Redington working with new FBI Profiler Liz Kane, together they work to hunt down some of the most dangerous criminal in the world. In the first episode alone you have kidnappings, hostage situations and bombings, I was on the edge of my seat for the pilot and it got me hooked. The show got picked up for a full season and I seriously recommend people get in to it. It is on Sky Living at 9pm on Fridays and I cant wait for more.

Devious Maids- This show has pretty much the same premise as Desperate Housewives, which is no surprise as it was made by housewives creator Marc Cherry and produced by Eva Longoria. Housekeeper Flora is murdered in her employer's mansion and it's up to her friends to help find out what really happened to her. Although it is very similar to DH, it is still a good show. The characters are very likable and I love a good murder mystery. I like former Ugly Betty star Ana Ortiz back on screen as a mother trying to prove her son is being framed for the murder. It may have got off to a slow enough start but it is really easy to get into. I recommend it for anyone who liked Desperate Housewives or a good murder mystery.

Revenge- I know this show is huge in the US but I don't think it gets enough buzz over here. We are going to be going to the third season now and I cannot recommend this show enough. It follows Emily Thorne, a young women hell bent on revenge on the people who framed her father for a terrorist attack. The plotlines are so outrageous and addictive you will barely be able to wait until the next episode, So much happens in one season you think it happened ages ago. It is my second favorite show and I think more people need to get into it. If you want to get into before season 3 then you need to watch from the start as the backstories are very jammed and you can't dip in and out of the show but trust me you won't want to.

Scandal- Again I know this show is massive in the US but again I don't think it gets enough buzz on this side of the world, probably because it' shown on More 4 which I tend to forget I have. It follows Olivia Pope and her associates as the get rid of D.C's most powerful scandals. Kerry Washington is unbelievable in this role and the supporting cast are just as good. You can't help but want to watch one after another. I only started watching recently and I finished the first season in 1 day (something I am a little ashamed to admit!).Watch online to get the back story and I promise you this will be a staple in your tv diet.

New Buys

Over the weekend I decided to treat myself and get some new clothes. Winter is coming and unfortunately I need warmer clothes. I ended up getting some things I did not think I would ever wear but with me, expect the unexpected! Heres a look at some of the pieces I picked up.

I always said I would never wear a midi skirt but I succcomed to the idea of the weekend and treated myself to this simple black one from River Island for €25.00. Funnily enough it's become my favorite new piece of clothing!

For some reason I went in looking for black jeans and decided to go for grey, which was very handy as I don't have any grey jeans. These were €20.00 and they fit like a dream!

Embedded image permalink
I did a piece on Winter Coats last week and I am in love with mine! It's from River Island and cost €110. I love the leather look and the fur is so soft, I don't want to take it off!

Embedded image permalink
I have been looking for a jersey style top for ages and I found this in New Look. I love how Baggy it is and it looks great with leggings and a beanie, It was a steal at €24.00

Finally I found a baggy jumper but that was light material. This was from New Look at was €24.00. I like subtle animal print and this is perfect. It looks cute but casual with leggings and it's also long enough that you could get away with it as a jumper dress.

Charlie Hunnam 50 Shades Dropout: Why I don't blame Him

A few weeks ago the big reveal was announced. The two leads of 50 Shades of Grey The Movie were announced and the reaction was...lukewarm. Dakota Johnson (Daughter of Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson) and Sons of Anarchy star Charlie Hunnam were cast as Anna and Christian. Women were outraged that dark and brooding Christian Grey was going to be blond and did not look like Charlie.
Tonight it was announced that Charlie Hunnam has dropped out of the film due to scheduling difficulties with his hit show Sons of Anarchy.
I do not believe that for one second. I'm sure he knew when he signed up for the film and what the schedule was going to be. Reports are saying that he would not be ready for the fame that may come with the film and didn't want to make another "Showgirls" (critically destroyed 1995 film that was deemed too graphic at the time of release)
I can see his resistance. Although I have never read the book I am very familiar with it's plot and characters. ( since no one would shut up about the book for the whole of 2012). Many big names went around for the part but two relatively unknown got the leads, probably because many big names were afraid to touch the film. I know some of the scenes are very graphic and this film could be a career make or break. If it goes wrong the leads could end up being a laughing stock the world over. His role is very serious in Sons of Anarchy and I don't think he would like to jeopardize his career in a film that some may come to consider pornographic (there are always going to be some). Also the reactions to his casting would knock anyones confidence, some comments were brutal.
Although he is a hottie with a body, (check him out in Pacific Rim) he is not the man I and many woman image to be Christian Grey. I think the perfect person for the role is Ian Somerhalder, the Vampire Diaries Star has expressed interest in the role and from what I know of Gray's character profile he is perfect. He has a edge to him and plays dark and moody oh so well. He is also beautiful to look at and I think he would be perfect as Mr Grey.
Whatever Charlie's reason hopefully his replacement is met with a better response.

Charlie Hunnam, no longer Christian Grey

Ian Somerhalder, His Replacement?

Glee Cory Monteith Episode

Last Night in the States Glee showed it's saddest episode and it was probably the saddest tv episode I have ever watched. Its shows how the Glee club and past members are coping three weeks after Finn Hudson's untimely death. It opened with the main cast and past characters such as Mercedes, Mike and Puck. All current and formers Glee club members sang "Seasons of Love" and when the song ended they showed a picture of Cory and then my tears started and never stopped. I thought the episode was perfect. It didn't say how Finn died or show his funeral. It showed how his friends coped with the tragic loss and how he impacted the charters in the show. I thought it was very brave for the show to kill  off the character. The could have said he was in college and not relate to what really happened to Cory.

Gone but not forgotten: At the end of the song, they all turned to face a projected image of the high school quarterback

You can see the charters pain and how much Cory ment to the actors. It was classy and beautiful and showed how everyone copes with grief differently. Some scenes were very upsetting to watch, one very sad scene is where Finns mum, step dad and step brother Kurt, clean up his belongings in his room. The actress who plays Finn's mother gives a great performance as the grieving mother and pointedly states "How am I a mother when I don't have a child anymore". This line really got to me, at this point I was sobbing like crazy.
Naya Rivera's performance was my favorite. She sang The Band Perry "If I Die Young". I thought the lyrics described the situation perfectly and you could feel Naya's upset.
However the most prominent performance comes from Lea Michele who played Finn's girlfriend and who was Corys real life girlfriend. She sang Bob Dylan's "Make You Feel My Love". I love how she didn't hide her heartbreak and I cannot image how hard it was for her to preform. We see her in the last ten minutes of the episode and I do not know how she filmed it and sang that song. It was a beautiful performance and my heart bled for her.
Tearjerker: Fans had been eager to see just how the beloved character would be farewelled by Cory's real-life girlfriend, who had tears streaming down her face as she sung Make You Feel My Love while tenderly touching her 'Finn' necklace

When I saw the promo for the episode first I got teary and today the played a clip on the radio and I started to cry a small bit. I knew it would be a sad watch. I am not the kind of girl who tears up at tv shows and movies, (I have never cried at the notebook!) however this episode really got to me.
Cory Monteith never seemed to have any addiction problems and when he went to rehab a  few months before his death I was shocked but I thought fair play to him, he is getting help. I was completely and utterly shocked when I heard the new he had died. I suppose that's why the episode was so powerful, it came as a shock to the viewer and the people who worked on the show. I also think the real life relationship between Cory and Lea made the show that more somber. Rachel tells Mr Shue how she and Finn's future plans and how they were going to be together forever and the fact that her love and future were going to be taken away from her in real life as well made it seem so much more final.
Well done to everyone who partook in the episode, you could tell the actors weren't acting those were real tears and real emotions. It was moving, emotive and realistic and you could tell
RIP Cory

Miley Cyrus Bangerz: Review

It is here the "New Miley" album that will set her completely distance her from her Hannah Montana days. This will tie in with her new sexy OTT image. She has told us that this is the album "she wanted to make for a long time". I myself have always like Miley's music. I had some songs from her Hannah Montana meet Miley Album and I had her Breakout album as well as some songs from Can't be Tamed and Time Of Our Lives. However this is a brand new sound from the star and it has a random mix of songs.

Adore You- The album starter is a ballad and it doesn't really set the tone of the album. It doesn't really fit in the new Badass Miley but it's a nice ballad.

We Can't Stop- Her first single off the album and her big comeback. The song grew on me after a few listens and I love it now. This should have been the first song off the album.

SMS ft Britney Spears- This has a slick slow beat Britney brings something special to the song. Miley more raps than sings on this track but if it was just her without Britney it would not be memorable.

4X4 ft Nelly- This is real country and I love it. It get's you moving and it suits her voice so much more than hip hop. It's also nice to hear Nelly because he hasn't been as prominent and he tops off the song. Love This.

My Darlin ft Future- This has a real hip hop beat and samples Stand By Me. miley sounds good on the track and the lyrics are great but Future sounds a mess and it sounds like a drunk man was in the studio recording with Miley. He really brings this down, Miley could have held this on her own.

Wrecking Ball- Regardless of the Video I Love this song. I think it really shows off her vocal range and I think the lyrics are beautiful. More of this please!

Love Money Party ft Big Sean- This has a dance beat to it and it's a real party track. I really liked this and voice sounds great.

#GETITRIGHT- This sounds like a 90's RnB track and in my opinion it's one of the strongest tracks on the album in my opinion. Her voice sounds great and it's a fun and cheeky song.

Drive- I can't help think this is about Liam. Miley bares her soul in this song against a hip hop beat. I can't help feel for her on this track as she puts her emotions across so well on this song. I really liked it.

FU ft French Montana - This sounds like a mix between big band and hip hop. She is pissed in this track. She is giving Liam the ultimate Message FU and by the sounds of it she said a lot worse to him. I love how raw and angry she is against the beat. Very Powerful.

Do My Thang- This is her best effort to be gangsta. She is trying to tell us she is Queen Bee but this track makes me think she has a long way to go until Beyonce and Britney start to worry.

Maybe You're Right- This track is a bit forgettable and dull. It's a ballad with a strong drum beat. Not her best work.

Someone Else- This song sounds the same as some of the stronger tracks on the album. It seems a bit "done", however I do like the added dubstep.

Rooting For My Baby- This is a bit more chilled out and a bit more simple. Very drum circle, but it's not great.

Own My Own- This sounds a lot like "Seven Nation Army" by the White Stripes and that distracted me a bit. It is another filler and thats probably why it's a bonus track.

Hands In The Air ft Ludacris- I thought this would be more of a party anthem but it's way more hip hop. It's an alright finish to an alright album.

My Verdict: I will not be buying the album. I just think it goes from one good to one really bad song too quickly, it is not consistent and when I think that she worked with the likes of Pharrell and Will.i.am I was expecting alot more. The songs that are supposedly about Liam are the best and I admire more how she did not hold back and songs like 4X4, #GETITRIGHT, Love Money Party and We Can't Stop are really fun. However when it's not strong it's bad. For me a few good songs do not help overpower what I think is a average album.

Best Song: Wrecking Ball

The cold weather is back and summer is officially over. Very upsetting, however you can still look fabulous in an oversized coat. Coats are usually on the pricy side but there are a few that you can get for a bargain price , however remember when buying a coat quality is important, it may look good but if it doesn't do what it's supposed to there is no point wearing it. Here are some of the hottest coats the high street has to offer.
